Borno State, located in the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, borders Yobe, Gombe, Adamawa, and the countries of Cameroon, Niger, and Chad. Its capital city is Maiduguri. Established in 1976, it originally included Yobe State, which separated in 1991.
