It’s important to know, in Borno state, Education is one of the 10-point agenda of the present administration. The government leads a tripartite education programme with the Nigerian Stock Exchange and Bridge to lead a full scale public transformation across the state. The aim is to redefine the provision of quality and accessible education. Borno state has many Public Secondary schools and Basic schools across the state. There are also 53 ultra-modern Mega Schools with modern technology, interactive whiteboards and educational resources to move Borno’s basic learning to an unbeatable new level. A massive resuscitation is ongoing in the education sector. There is an increase access to learning aids and projects to build the capacity of teachers. We are proud to say, Borno State is the only state in the country with concentration of large number of these Ultra-modern schools. Visitors are always flummoxed with the number of giant structured easily mistaken for Ministry or Agency only to be informed that, these are Mega Schools.

Borno state has a conventional University, called the University of Maiduguri. It’s one of the main reasons why so many people from other part of the country come to the state. The University also operates a teaching hospital. Other higher institutions include College of Medical Sciences, The Lake Chad Research Institute, Ramat Polytechnic, Science and Technology Bama, College of Agriculture, College of Education, Maiduguri, College Education, Waka-Biu, Muhammad Goni College of Legal and Islamic Studies, College of Nursing and Midwifery, College of Health Technology, El-kanemi College of Islamic Theology and the two New State institutions, Borno State University and Nigeria Army University.

Borno state is an important centre of Qur’anic learning and a home to numerous reciters of the Qur’an. It is widely believed that one cannot master the Qur’an without studying in Borno state.
