The chairman stated this while distributing bicycles to students of customs and Harun Alana IDPs camps to facilitate their studies.
Abubakar Umara Zulum said the council procured thirty bicycles to the students at the two IDPs camps to encourage them study hard to become useful members of the society.

He said he promised them the transportation during his recent visit to the camps and called on them to use the bicycle for the purpose intended while advising the parents and Guardians to monitor their wards to ensure that they study hard.

Alhaji Abubakar Umara Zulum was also at the school where the Headmaster conducted him round to see the situation of the school where he directed the Headmaster to submit their requirements to the council for necessary action.


The launching of the uniforms was held at the Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic studies Maiduguri hosting IDPs from Abadam.

Addressing the pupils the Caretaker Chairman Alhaji Mustapha Kawu Lawan said the council will do everything possible to ensure the welfare of both primary and secondary school pupils from the area.

He reaffirmed the ten point agenda of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to restore the lost glory of education in the state hence the council is also working assiduously to ensure that the policies of government is implemented at the grassroots level.

The chairman also advised the pupils and the students to face their studies seriously so as to become useful members of the society and urged the parents to monitor the activities of their wards to guard against engaging in social vices.

The council chairman distributed five hundred and four pieces of uniforms, two hundred and twenty sandals for girls and two hundred and fifty sandals for boys.
In their remarks the education secretary of the area Alhaji Kaka Kyari and party chairman Alhaji Gambomi Abba commended the council for providing free uniforms to their children.

This accordingly is believed to be capable of healing the wounds of the annulment of the just election conducted in Nigeria which was annulled by the military government of General Babagida. 
Though twenty nine May which was set aside as handing over date for the current democratic dispensation was being observed as democracy day, President Buhari who was elected in two thousand and fifteen after reviewing the June twelve Saga and injustices meted out to the presumed winner of the election Chief Mashood Kashimawo Oluwale Abiola declared that Democracy be celebrated on the 12th of June every year as against the handing over day of twenty ninth May.

Accordingly, June twelve every year became a public holiday in view of the political awareness created since its annulment and subsequent democratization processes achieved.

In an interview, chairman of the State Labour Union Bulama Abiso noted that the declaration of June twelve as a public would immensely bring about the desired unity and progress among Nigerians and urged citizens of the state to whole heartedly adopt the change mantra of the present administration under the leadership of Professor Umara Zulum.
Professor Umara Zulum he said has resolved to restore the lost glory of Borno in accordance with his ten point agenda.

On his part, the Provost National Automobile Technicians Association Borno state Alhaji Baba appealed to government to provide security and return all displaced persons to their respective towns and villages.

Also speaking, a lecturer with Department of History University of Maiduguri Dr. Bukar Gaji noted that the declaration June 12 as public holiday will heal the wounds and urged Nigerians to pray for the success of government at all levels.  

He also called on Governor Babagana Umara to involve all and sundry irrespective of political leanings and urged the people to exercise restraint since the new government has resolved to work for the interest of all.

Others who spoke at the same vein include the coordinator of Zulum campaign organization Alhaji Baba Shehu and the secretary Borno Youth Development Association Mohammed Hussaini Imam who all called for youth involvement in Governance.

They also emphasized the need for the provision of basic necessities of life such as water, Healthcare facilities and functional education.
